The construction of a modern grain terminal is continuing at the SE Mariupol Sea Trade Port. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, work was put on hold in the spring, but it was resumed in July 2020. The construction of the first phase of the grain terminal continued until the end of the year: foundations were poured at the facility, metal structures were installed. In October, they started building a railway line to the entrance to the wagon unloading station. After completion of the works, the grain terminal will be able to store 131,000 tons and handle 2 million tons of grain per year.

Today, the State Enterprise Mariupol Sea Commercial Port and the American company ABROOK INC signed a contract for the supply of equipment for the future grain complex at the port, MRPL.CITY reports. The document was signed by the director of the Mariupol port, Alexander Oliynyk, and the president of ABROOK INC, Mikhail Atroshenko. The event was attended by the senior commercial attache of the US Embassy in Ukraine James Lindley, commercial specialist of the US Embassy Anatoly Sakhno, and the mayor of Mariupol Vadim Boychenko, the press service of the enterprise reports. “Today is a significant day for us. After all, by signing a contract with such a world-famous manufacturer of equipment for grain transhipment and storage, we are giving a clear signal to our clients and partners that the Mariupol port not only declares its further development, but is also taking real steps to diversify cargo flows and improve the quality of services provided,” - noted the director of the Mariupol ICC Alexander Oleynik. Oleinik emphasized that the enterprise is aimed at creating the most universal port with new high-tech jobs, reducing the cost of cargo transshipment and, as a result, increasing the profitability of the enterprise and increasing tax deductions to budgets of all levels. President of ABROOK INC Mikhail Atroshenko thanked the Mariupol Trade Port for its trust in participating in the project and expressed hope for further cooperation. Additionally, the complex will be equipped with a grain dryer (which is extremely rare in ports) with a capacity of 3 thousand tons per day. According to experts in the agricultural sector, the export potential of regions gravitating towards the ports of the Azov Sea is at the level of 3-4 million grain cargoes per year. Therefore, the construction of a modern grain terminal in the deepest Ukrainian port of Azov - Mariupol - is more than obvious. Let us remind you that the decision to build a new grain terminal was made in 2016. The terminal will be built in two stages with the expectation of reaching full design capacity in 2019. According to the project, the new complex will allow transshipment of grain cargo in the amount of 2 million tons per year road transport – 500 tons per hour load ships - 2 thousand tons per hour.
